Roles and permissions

What each role and seat can do on every tournament screen, with the refusal each one meets.

Access to a tournament comes from the account's place in the organization and from seats granted on the tournament itself. This page defines each role, then lists what each can do screen by screen. The tables follow the permission checks in the product, including the ones the server applies when a hidden button is reached another way.

Roles

Role	How it is held	Reach
Platform admin	A Meridian staff account.	Every organization and tournament. Can provision an organization and issue its first owner invitation.
Organization owner	The account that created the organization, or one made an owner on the Access screen.	Every tournament of the organization, with full admin rights, and the organization console: profile, branding, billing, access and connectivity.
Organization admin	Added on the Access screen.	Every tournament of the organization with full admin rights. Reads the Access list; only an owner changes it. An organization admin who also holds a Tab seat on a tournament is treated as a tab seat there.
Settings only	An organization role reserved for profile and billing.	The organization console without tournament access. The Access screen shows and upgrades this role but does not assign it.
Admin seat	Granted per tournament on Users & roles.	Full admin of that tournament: Setup, Field, Rounds, Ballots, Standings, Announce, Records, money actions. Cannot manage seats.
Tab seat	Granted per tournament on Users & roles.	Runs the tournament: all of the above except Announce, fees, refunds, fee waivers, promo codes and seat management. Keeps Finalize.
Compliance seat	Granted per tournament on Users & roles.	Reads Records and the Compliance screen. Every other admin address redirects to Records. Cannot file or resolve a compliance report.
Coach	A registered account that owns a cart of entries.	Registers and pays for entries, shares claim links, and sees released pairings and results for its entries. No admin screens.
Competitor	An account that claims or holds an entry.	Sees its own pairings and results, checks in on an online tournament, nominates a judge and files a dispute. No admin screens.
Judge	An account that signed up to judge.	Maintains its own availability, paradigm and conflicts, and enters ballots for rooms it is seated in. No admin screens.
Observer	An account enrolled on the Observers screen.	Watches released pairings that both sides approved. No admin screens.

Reading the matrix

Yes means the role can take the action. No means the control is hidden, disabled or refused by the server.
A cell that quotes a message gives the text the server returns when the role reaches the action anyway.
Others names the roles outside the five admin columns that can take the action, and conditions that apply to everyone.
Screen names match the left rail: Overview, Setup, Field, Rounds, Ballots, Standings, Announce and Records, plus the legacy pages under Records.
