Atlas / tournament documentation

Getting started

The shortest path from a new account to a first released round, with a link to the page that covers each step in full.

This page gives the whole path in order. Each step links to the page that documents it. It assumes one in-person or online tournament with one event.

Before the tournament

  1. Create an account at /tournaments/signup with an email address and a password. Confirm the address from the mail Atlas sends.
  2. Create the organization and finish its five setup steps. A tournament cannot be created until they are finished. See Organization and account.
  3. Create the tournament from a preset. A new tournament starts private and closed to registration. See Creating a tournament.
  4. Open Setup and review each section: Tournament, Events, Rooms, Ballot, Rounds & break, Standings and Registration. See Setup and Rooms.
  5. Set the registration status to open in Setup, Registration, and share the tournament page with coaches. See Registration and field.
  6. Add judges by hand or invite them, and approve each one once their steps are finished. A judge can be seated only after the steps are done. See Judges.

On the day

  1. Check competitors in at Field, Check-in, if the desk is in use. See Check-in.
  2. Open Rounds and prepare Round 1. The round is drawn, judges are seated and rooms are assigned, and nothing is visible to competitors yet. See Rounds and pairing.
  3. Read the release check under the round, clear each blocker it lists, then select Release.
  4. Watch ballots arrive in Ballots, Queue. Nudge judges whose ballots are overdue. See Ballots.
  5. Repeat for each preliminary round, then generate the break and run the elimination rounds. See Standings and Breaks and elimination rounds.
  6. Finalize on Records when every check clears. See Results and closeout.
