Practice

Debate programs, built from the ground up.

Meridian helps schools, clubs, camps and leagues start a debate program and keep it strong.

We write the curriculum and the guidebooks. We train the people who run the program, and we advise them as it grows.

What we do

Platforming

Start a program and grow it.

Platforming is how we build a debate program where there was none.

We find the teachers and leaders who will run it, and we train them to coach their own debaters.

We bring the curriculum and the shape of a season. We carry the logistics of practices and tournaments until the program can carry them itself.

A program that cannot yet pay can be sponsored through Meridian.

What it covers

  • Finding and training the people who will run the program
  • A season plan, with curriculum and guidebooks for each part of it
  • Logistical support for practices and tournaments
  • Its first tournament, run on Atlas
  • Sponsorship for programs that cannot yet pay

Guidebooks

The Meridian Library.

We are writing the Meridian Library, a series of guidebooks that set out how we teach debate.

Seventeen titles are confirmed, from a first argument to preparing for nationals. Four are being written now.

The guidebooks go to the programs we work with, so a program keeps teaching the same way after a camp or a season ends.

Justus Aryani's debate guides and research have been published through Monument Publishing and Rhetoric LLC.

Being written now

  • How to Make an Argument
  • How to Argue
  • Impact Calculus
  • How to Cross-Examine

Curriculum

Lessons for a season, a camp or a single day.

We write curriculum for classes, clubs and camps. Each unit moves from the theory of debate to a full practice round and its debrief.

A unit can be built on the resolution a league is debating that season.

A four-day camp

  1. The architecture of debate

Theory, stock issues, impacts and evidence

  2. Rebuttal and case structure

Refutation, cross-examination and a practice round

  3. Resolution analysis

The season's resolution, flowing and a practice round

  4. Practice and delivery

Delivery, targeted drills and a final round

The four-day arc also runs as a one-day workshop

Taught in August 2026

EnGarde's novice Team Policy camp

Three days in Cypress, Texas: rules and structure, speaking and partnership, researching the resolution, and affirmative and negative preparation, ending in a full round.

Consulting

Advice for the people who run programs.

We advise directors, schools, leagues and organizations on starting, staffing and growing a debate program.

The founders do this work themselves.

What it covers

  • Planning a new program or league
  • Structuring a season, its practices and its tournaments
  • Developing coaches and judges

For directors, leagues and institutions

How it starts

From the first call to the first tournament.

  1. Plan

We meet the people starting the program and learn its students, schedule and goals.

  2. Equip

We train the teachers and leaders who will run it, and give them the guidebooks.

  3. Teach

Our coaches teach the curriculum in class, at camp or in a workshop.

  4. Compete

The program enters its first tournament. We stay on as it grows.
